The Flame
At some point on the inner journey, the longing might come up to intensify the engagement with your inner work and become be a member of an ongoing group. Maybe this was triggered by reading some books, having joined a workshop, or having seen a video. Or maybe you talked to friends who are taking part in an ongoing group and you felt their enthusiasm and inspiration. Maybe you feel this urge inside you to go beyond what you already know about yourself, about life…
There can be many reasons to take this next step on the inner journey. Becoming a student in a school and joining an ongoing group offers the opportunity for a new level of commitment.
To be able to make this commitment we need to have an inner flame, an inner drive to find out about the truth of who and what we are.
Being connected to a group field with a similar interest and commitment, sharing the process over a longer period of time with fellow students, forming long-term connections with teachers, being imbedded in the curriculum of the teaching itself; all of these invaluable elements of an ongoing group will support the inner flame to grow and develop.
For some of us the inner flame is loud and clear, sometimes driven by necessity because our lives don’t seem to make sense anymore. For some this flame is more subtle and we need to listen deeply to find the yearning in our heart and soul.
Suggested inquiry 15 min: (this can be done writing or with a friend)
- Take a moment, away from the business of your life. Sense your body.
- Then ask yourself with real interest: what is my deepest longing for myself in this life time? What do I value more than anything else?
- Do I recognize an inner flame?
- How would I best serve this flame?
- After the exploration you can reflect for 5 min: how was it for you to take time and ask yourself these questions? What kind of connection are you feeling with yourself right now?
This reflection is shared by the teachers of the newly formed Diamond Heart Europe 4, which is still accepting new members. The group holds open inquiry evenings, at no cost, for people to learn about the group and the Diamond Approach in general.
