Meet the Teachers: Greg Knight

Meet the Teachers: Greg Knight

How did you find the Diamond Approach?

I learned about the work from a colleague and mentor of mine who had been participating in the Diamond Approach for a few years. I was looking for a community to explore “spiritual work.” I had studied philosophy and psychology in college, had tried different teachings and approaches to inner exploration, and nothing had really felt like a right fit. My colleague knew about my interests, suggested the book Essence with the Elixir of Enlightenment by A. H. Almaas to me, and mentioned an upcoming weekend retreat I could attend. I got the book and really enjoyed it. So, I went to the weekend retreat.

Going to that first weekend retreat, I wasn't sure what I would find there. I recall that my first thought was that there was nothing flashy or fancy about the setup. The teacher presented the teaching and it felt straightforward, and at the same time felt like it came from some kind of depth and truth that I knew, or could at least relate to. I felt challenged without being overwhelmed. It felt like the right place for me to discover more about my inner nature.

What has kept you engaged with the Diamond Approach teachings?

The honest answer is one without words. It is a pull or force. I do stay engaged, but more than that something continues to engage me.

What advice/encouragement would you offer to someone ‘on the fence’ about attending an Intro event?

Lately I have been saying that the Diamond Approach is like going to university for your consciousness. And that's true: you are a student in a school! And the curriculum here is profoundly interactive and engaging. You won't be sitting back and just letting things happen. From the beginning, you are asked to pay close attention to what is being taught, to work with others, and to sincerely inquire into your own experience. There may be sudden, quantum leaps of understanding. And there is also a lot of gradual, meaningful work of integrating your discoveries into your life. So, come, check it out. Ask questions. You’ll know after a weekend or two whether this school and teaching is a good fit for you at this time.

Greg Knight lives with his family near the ocean in Rhode Island. In addition to his work as a Diamond Approach teacher, Greg works as a Rolfing® Practitioner and movement teacher.
