Every spiritual path deals with our common human situation, and each path deals with it differently. The Diamond Approach is a relatively new path, for people living a full human life in the world, who want to know who and what they are beyond their usual stories and ideas about themselves. In this non-residential weekend we will explore ways the Diamond Approach uses knowledge and understanding from contemporary psychology in the service of spiritual awakening and development. 

Spiritual teachings illuminate the deepest and subtlest potential of what it is to be a human being. To realize oneself is to become a living expression of such true human qualities as a selfless loving heart, a fresh and joyful delight in life, a solidity of inner strength and will and a clear aware perceptive mind. Identification with our stories and beliefs about ourselves is a barrier to knowing this depth, which is our true nature.

Modern psychology informs us about the dynamics and processes of how our sense of self developed. Through inquiry into our moment-by-moment experience of ourselves (the fundamental practice of the Diamond Approach), we can understand directly how we have come to take ourselves to be our familiar self and experientially penetrate the ongoing ego activity of identifying with this limited idea of who we are. Without the filter of our personality, we encounter the exquisite reality of ourselves and the world.

Retreats normally involve meditation, a teaching, experiential exercises in pairs, threes, or small groups, and opportunities to ask questions, share experiences and inquire further with a teacher. 

The Diamond Approach in Aotearoa:

The Diamond Approach has been taught in New Zealand for over a decade. There is a large, established group that has developed over that time, which is now closed to new members. Diamond Approach New Zealand is now in the process of forming a new group, for those with a sincere interest in inner work and spiritual discovery. 

We are offering in person retreats open to all in 2023 and 2024
