November 05 - November 07, 2022
10:00 am - 09:00 pm

Some spiritual traditions refer to our fundamental nature as open space, without obstruction or hindrance. We can glimpse echoes of that openness in our ordinary lives - times when we feel open-hearted or open-minded, times when our body feels open and spacious. And of course, we all know the opposite experience - feeling closed off, bounded in some way, in mind, heart, or body.

We can actually discover through our direct experience what closes down the open space of our nature, and what blocks our knowing it. Our contact with this open space is lost when we take self-images to be who we really are.

These images structure the openness of space, creating a boundary around us that we take to be real. Instead of directly experiencing Being without mental images, we end up with mental images as our identity. The open space of our nature gets filled with a self that is composed of many self-images.

This weekend, we’ll begin an exploration of penetrating our images of who we are, in order to see that space is a facet of our Being, the openness of Being itself.
