“There isn’t really freedom as long as we live in the shadow and tyranny of the superego.”— A. H. Almaas

Recognizing, understanding, and working with our inner critic can have a profound impact on our freedom to be ourselves.

The inner critic is the voice that criticizes, compares, and judges. Sometimes it is loud; other times it is subtle or so familiar that we barely notice it. Yet this inner voice has a powerful influence on how we feel, how we act, the choices we make, and who we believe ourselves to be.

This inner judge doesn’t live only in our thoughts—it also shows up in the body as patterns of tension, anxiety, heaviness, or a lack of energy.

In this book study, we’ll explore the origins and patterns of the inner judge, how it shapes both our bodily experience and inner life, and how we can begin to loosen its grip.

Each session will include:
♦ Guided awareness practice or meditation
♦ Exploration of key themes from the reading
♦ Inquiry into present-moment experience
♦ Shared reflection and group dialogue

This experiential approach supports a deeper understanding of how self-judgment forms, how it affects our inner life, and how we can gradually disentangle from it—opening to greater authenticity, presence, and inner freedom.

No prior experience with inquiry is needed. All are welcome!
