Anger is a limited manifestation of true Strength. When we cannot experience Strength itself in its purity, it appears as aggression and anger. Strength is generally suppressed and frustrated in its thrilling aliveness, so it tends to escape as an explosive force we call anger. From the perspective of the Diamond Approach©, anger is not a bad thing — it is an expression of true Strength, which is why we want to feel it rather than deny it. We want to experience its energy, vibration and heat, so that the energy of that anger, that aggression, can become distilled in us.

But how do we meet our anger when it arises? Some of us identify with being strong and angry and let it act itself out; others identify with being passive, cautious, hesitant, and hold it back. What happens when we do neither — when we neither suppress anger nor act on it? What are we afraid of when we let ourselves feel it fully, and what is it really asking for?

In this seminar, we will reflect on our experience of anger as a blocked and frustrated expression of true Strength. Participants will inquire into their capacity to explore anger and its characteristics — heat, trembling, aggression, the associated emotions, and the impulse to react — not to suppress or express these, but to learn to allow them to arise, to feel them, to be with them, and to inquire into their source.

Embodying Strength
Because the body tends to be overlooked in group inquiry, we will also include simple, physical and energetic exercises to help us feel the aliveness of Strength directly. Throughout, we will explore how these identifications obscure the realization of true Strength.

The workshop includes:

  • A guided meditation practice
  • Simple physical movement exercises
  • A teaching on anger and Strength
  • Exercises for personal exploration of the teaching
  • Time for questions and comments
